ALL FOR CHILDREN...
ALL INDEED...

LET ALL CHILDREN LIVE AS THEIR AGES REQUIRE...

(25 January 2006)

All children to school!
All children to play!

In recent years there has been significant increase in the number of children working in streets in the word as a whole and in Turkey too. This is a quite alarming trend. It is the social responsibility of all of us to develop interest in the situation of these children and give them their childhood back instead of behaving as silent by-passers. We know that they have their expectations from life just as we do. Never forget that there is nothing more dangerous than a childhood not actually lived.

Considering these, the project "Rehabilitation of Children Working in Streets in the Provinces of Gaziantep, Batman and Sanliurfa" was launched under the programme for "Enhancement of Integrated Regional Development in GAP and Mitigation of Socio-economic Disparities" jointly implemented by GAP Regional Development Administration and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the financial support of the Swiss Government.

One of the campaigns launched under the project is titled "Will you be my guardian?"

The objective of this campaign is to recruit volunteer guardians to support the school enrolment, retention and success of children in Batman, Sanliurfa and Gaziantep who are presently deprived of means to live their childhood.

In the campaign, educational and clothing needs (textbooks, notebooks, school uniforms, boots, coats, etc.) of these children under risk in difficult circumstances will be provided for by volunteering guardians. An adult volunteering for such role is to provide this assistance at least once and he/she will be able to follow up the results on the website www.velimolurmusun.org.
