Presidency of GAP Administration

The organization of the Southeastern Anatolia Project Regional Development Administration consists of the Higher Council for Southeastern Anatolia Project and the Presidency of Southeastern Anatolia Project Regional Development Administration (Presidency of GAP Administration). The GAP Administration was set up as a governmental entity, attached to the office of the Prime Minister, for a period of 18 years. Its mandate is to render or have others render services relating to such diverse fields as planning, infrastructure, housing, mining, agriculture, energy, communication, etc. in order to materialize the rapid development of and investments in the territory covered by the project; to take relevant measures to improve the level of education of the people of this region; and to ensure the coordination of various organizations and agencies engaged in related activities.

The GAP Administration undertakes the secretarial works of the GAP Higher Council. Performing its tasks and functions as an entity attached to the Prime Ministry directly or through a State Minister designated for this purpose, the GAP Administration is organized as Headquarters and a Regional Directorate. As set forth in the Government Decree No. 388 in Force of Law and its annex on staffing, which is the institutional basis of the Administration, top management functions rest with a President and two Deputy Presidents. The Regional Directorate is in Sanliurfa.
