The delegation of the representatives GAP RDA and State Hydraulic Works will pay a visit to Japan between 12 and 16 June 2006 to present the investment opportunities in Turkey to the Japanese investors and businessmen

 

The award ceremony of the “15. Interschool Poetry and Composition Contest on GAP Theme” organized by GAP Regional Development Administration together with Ministry of Education will be held in Ankara on 5 May 2006, aiming at the better presentation of GAP to the children and so adaptation of this huge project by the future generations. The winner students of this contest will participate in a visit to the GAP Region between 7 and 9 May 2006.

 

The 2. AGROMACH Agriculture, Agriculture Technologies and Animal Husbandry Fair supported by GAP Regional Development Administration will be organized in Şanlıurfa between 6 and 9 April 2006. The fair aims at the presentation of the Region’s agriculture on national and international platforms; the development of the present investments; the promotion of new investments; to spread the usage of modern agriculture methods and technologies and to increase consciousness of the agricultural human resources.

 
 

VOCATIONAL TRAINING WITH EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE STARTED IN SIIRT.

The prize winners of the Competition on Village Centered Agricultural Production Support Project by the cooperation of GAP RDA and Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs are "Antep Pistachio Processing and Packaging Project" (Adıyaman - Erdal DOGUNÇ), "Greenhouse Management Project" (Şanlıurfa - Erdal HOMAN), "Dairy Cattle Breeding Development Project" (Diyarbakır - Mehmet PASİN) and "Mushroom Cultivation Project" (Şanlıurfa - Nilüfer SERTKAYA).
   

The training seminar titled GAP and Media for the local media members on the national and GAP Region level, organized by GAP Regional Development Administration in cooperation with Şanlıurfa Governorship, Şanlıurfa Mayoralty, Federation of Journalists, GAP Journalists Association and with the supports of Harran University, Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Şanlıurfa and Şanlıurfa Goods Exchange will be held in Şanlıurfa between the dates of 30 March 2006 and 01 April 2006, aiming at both the technical capacity building of and the better presentation of GAP to the local media members.
   
The 25. Joint Annual Conference of Turkish American Business Council, American Turkish Council and American Friends of Turkey was held at Washington DC Mandarin Hotel between 26th and 29th of March, 2006. The President of GAP RDA, Mr. Muammer Yaşar Özgül will participate in the Agriculture and Food Committee Joint Annual Meeting as a speaker on 29 March 2006 , organized as part of the Joint Annual Conference.
   

The President of GAP RDA Muammer Yaşar ÖZGÜL, the vice president of GAP RDA Dr. Ferhat ŞELLİ and GAP RDA Economic Development General Coordinator Ahmet Zahir ERKAN visited State of Nebraska on 24 March 2006 with the invitation of Valmont Corp. for a study visit of their facilities. The firm is the world leader on pressurized irrigation especially on center pivot irrigation. These environmental friendly water and energy saving systems will surely contribute to the irrigated agriculture of the Region. It is envisaged to realise pilot implementations with the cooperation of irrigation unions, related governmental organisations and finance companies.
   
The Vise President of GAP RDA, Dr. Ferhat Selli and General Coordinator of International Relation Hasan Kilic participated in 4thWorld Water Forum, organized in Mexico between 16 and 22 March 2006.

READING MERRIMENT IN SOUTHEAST ANATOLIA
Can Children Publications will contribute to the “Project of Reading Merriment in the Southeast Anatolia” conducted by GAP Regional Development Administration (GAP RDA) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Erdal Öz (Can Publications), Samiye Öz (Can Children Publications), the representatives of GAP RDA and UNDP, the authors and theatre artists who will contribute to the related events will participate in the press conference for the presentation of the Project.
