Project and Action Plan on Health Status of People Working in Agriculture

The GAP Survey on Health Status of Farmers was implemented jointly by GAP Regional Development Administration and Harran University in the period 15 January-15 December 2013.

The project aimed at improving health status of farmers in provinces of South-eastern Anatolia (Adıyaman, Batman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt, Şanlıurfa and Şırnak) which would eventually improve farm outputs and income level of farmers. The ultimate aim is to mitigate poverty on the basis of ensuring health and safety in farming practices and an action plan for improvements.

Expected outputs were: Assessment of overall health status of farming people and their needs; identification of level of information, attitude and behaviour of agricultural employers in relation to farming health and safety; and development of intervention programmes on the basis of this information.

Survey results and the action plan were published under the same project.
